Placed Announces Seed Round Led by Madrona Venture Group
April 26, 2011 – Seattle-based startup Placed, Inc. today announced the closing of a seed round of funding lead by Madrona Venture Group with participation from David Shim, the CEO and Founder of Placed. Placed will use the capital to build out more of the team and the product.
"We are tackling a very greenfield opportunity in the mobile analytics space with the ultimate goal of establishing a new standard in terms of mobile measurement,” said David Shim. "We already have a great foundation in place with our early hires, and adding Madrona as an early-stage investor will only help us continue to attract top notch talent in the Seattle area.”In addition to the seed round, Placed is excited to announce the first three members of its advisory board:
- Shane Atchison – CEO and Co-Founder of ZAAZ, a WPP agency. Shane leads ZAAZ's long-term strategic vision of blending Creative & Data to help businesses realize the full potential of their brand.
- Peter Kassakian – Lead Optimization Scientist at Quantcast. Prior to Quantcast, Peter was the Principle Scientist at ClickShift which was acquired by WebTrends in 2006. Past advisor roles include SuperRewards and Likeme.net.
- Jeff White – Senior Software Engineer at Decide.com. Jeff was the first developer to join the team at Farecast and helped build and grow the data-intensive website up through its acquisition by Microsoft.
