David is the Founder and CEO of Placed. Previously David held the roles of Director of Product and Operations at Quantcast. As Director of Product he drove Quantcast Marketer from idea to an audience platform used by over 300+ advertisers across 6 billion actions a month. David pivoted to Director of Operations as part of the launch of Quantcast Lookalikes the primary revenue generating product for the company.
Prior to Quantcast, David has held leadership roles at WebTrends, and Farecast (acquired by Microsoft in 2008). Two out of the last 4 companies David has worked at have either had "cast" in the name, or were acquired by Microsoft. David ranks #1 on Google for "Third Party Ad Serving".
Nick is an engineer interested in big data. He's worked at Cornell University, Microsoft, SEOMoz, Kiha, and now Placed. At SEOMoz Nick engineered the API that now services millions of requests to in-house and partner applications across the SEO industry every day. At Kiha Software Nick was Director of Data Services, running a team of engineers tasked with gathering and managing email and social media communications.
Nick got his master's degree from Cornell University. Outside Placed, Nick works on several other projects including contributing patches for the open source Dynamic Window Manager for X, and Four Thirty-Six, an online Seattle event aggregator, among other projects in his Github profile.
Andrea's background is in digital advertising and analytics. Prior to joining Placed, she was Director of Client Services at Quantcast. As the second hire on the Operations team, she was responsible for building out and scaling the Client Services organization as the company's revenue and client base grew exponentially. While at Quantcast, she was a key contributor to the launch of several products, including Marketer, and Lookalikes, as well as the company's expansion into the UK market.
Before Quantcast, Andrea worked at WebTrends. She holds a degree in marketing and psychology from Tulane University.
Weilie is a researcher and engineer who enjoys applying data mining and machine learning techniques to solving complex real world problems. He joined Placed from Kiha Software where he worked on semantic search and location modeling. Before that Weilie was on Microsoft Bing's core relevance team, focusing on user intent understanding and search result optimization. He also contributed to Windows' Natural User Interface concepts and Office's digital ink technologies.
Weilie received his PhD in Computer Science from University of Rochester.
Saskia's background is in digital advertising and has over 12 years experience in domestic and international Product and Program Management.
Saskia previously worked for aQuantive, where she played a key role in building DRIVEpm, an on-line Ad Network, from the ground up. As one of the founders, she was responsible for scaling the business quickly and profitably. DRIVEpm became one of the top five global online advertising networks and has since been rebranded as the "Microsoft Media Network" following the purchase of aQuantive by Microsoft in 2007.
Brad recently graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Computer Science. Although fresh out of college, Brad comes to Placed with two years of industry experience. While attending classes at the UW Brad worked at Promantek Inc, a local tech start-up, where he built business web applications. At the UW, Brad also balanced his time between a mobile research project and volunteer programming work.
George has a passion for artificial intelligence and data analytics, and has pioneered innovations like 'Open View', a review summarization engine at Marchex, and a Data Recommendation Engine for Microsoft's SQL Azure Cloud Services.
He has his Masters in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and has made strong contributions to many leading companies over the past 12 years including TATA InfoTech, Sallie Mae, Marchex and Microsoft. Outside of the office George is also an ardent musician who records music in his home studio and plays the lead guitar for a Seattle based Classic Rock Band.
Over the past twelve years, Elliott Waldron has practiced the application of quantitative analysis to solving a number of real-world business problems from airfare prediction to financial prediction. Prior to joining Placed, Elliott was Managing Partner and Cofounder at L1 Partners, a Seattle-based hedge fund that used machine learning to trade financial futures. Prior to L1, he played a key role in developing the world's first airfare prediction service at Farecast.
Elliott Waldron earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a BA in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound.
Will enjoys the challenge of balancing beauty and function on the web. He joins Placed from the University of Washington where he earned a degree in Informatics. His studies focused on Human-Computer-Interaction, as well as Computer Engineering TA.
Outside of work, Will likes to run, race sailboats, and spend as much time in the Seattle sun as possible.
After graduating from Purdue University, Jeremy joined Agilent Technologies where he led a team implementing next generation distributed measurement standards. Next, he moved to Shanghai, China where he taught middle school children, studied Mandarin, and traveled the countryside. After landing in Seattle, he joined Evri, a startup in the news aggregation industry. There, he was the Engineering Manager for the company's backend infrastructure.
Outside of the office, Jeremy spends time biking, camping, and brewing beer.
Mike is deeply interested in how people interact with software and data. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering he moved across the country to join Microsoft's Expression team working on HTML design tools for the web and Windows 8. After 3 years he left Microsoft to join Placed. Outside of work he enjoys playing music, snowboarding, cycling, and watching football.
Sarah is a marketer with a background in the digital analytics space. Prior to joining Placed, she was Senior Manager of Marketing Communications at comScore. During her five years at comScore, Sarah focused on driving brand and product awareness in the U.S. and globally, with a focus on Asia and Latin America. She played an instrumental role in several key product launches including Mobile Metrix, comScore's flagship mobile measurement product. She holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Loyola University Chicago.
Michael Grebeck is a Scientist with a strong background in statistics, stochastic optimization, and machine learning. Prior to joining Placed, he was an Applied Researcher in online search and display advertising at Advertising.com and Microsoft. He worked on many topics including marketplace architecture, auction bidding strategies, and exploration versus exploitation problems.
Grebeck holds a Ph.D. in Statistics and Probability from UCSB. He also studied Control and Dynamical Systems at Caltech and as a Fulbright Fellow at Lund University.
Troy has a decade of sales, marketing and product experience. He has launched new web, social media and mobile services alongside companies such as Electronic Arts, MTV, T-Mobile, and AT&T. He joins Placed from WhitePages.com's mobile division where he managed acquisition and product marketing launches.
Outside of work, Troy works with Seattle area mobile professionals in an organization called JetCityMobile to help cement the Seattle region as an epicenter of all things mobile.
Eric Warddrip is the Director of Sales at Placed. Previously Eric held the role of Vice President, West Coast Sales for Sporting News Digital, where he was responsible for digital media revenue across their web, mobile, and tablet platforms. Eric has over 13 years of digital sales and management experience, opening sales offices for SportsIllustrated.com and FOXSports.com, and leading the west coast sales team for FOX Sports Digital. Additionally, Eric held the position of Senior Director of Sales for sports blog start up Yardbarker, where he grew and managed all national ad revenue through their acquisition by FOX Sports Digital in 2010.
